Winthrop Washington is Getting GREENER with Bridge Completion

The new bridge in downtown Winthrop Washington in beautiful Methow Valley has been stated to have it’s finish date tomorrow October 28, 2011 according to the Methow Valley News article of October 12, 2011 front page.

The Winthrop Spring Creek Bridge was designed to fit in with the Old American West theme for Winthrop Washington. Fish friendly the bridge spans the entire river with no pilings in a cable-stayed design and self weathering steel for an old rustic look.  The bridge is part of a larger vision to make our home town friendly to non motorized travel such as walking and cycling. It will be a much welcome addition to pedestrians and cyclist who wish to safely and enjoyably get around Winthrop by foot. The Susie Stephens Trail will be part of the walk and cycle friendly plans for Winthrop Washington.  Fifteen years in the planning, funding and designing efforts with a few stumbling blocks along the way, and finally the bridge, a major component to helping Winthrop go “Green”, is very near to completion. Fingers crossed we see it complete by tomorrow.
