Once again tomorrow early in the morning is the opening of the most popular hunting event in Methow Valley: Deer season.
The RV’s are pouring in and most campgrounds are full of the excited outdoor adventurists both locals and visitors alike. Wear bright orange if wandering into the wilderness areas over the next two weeks. This is especially important because as far as I can tell, even though you can hunt in all 39 counties of Washington State, the majority of hunters choose the Methow Valley as their prime destination! And can you blame them with the vast wild lands that surround the valley and that you are allowed to hunt in?
The news from Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is that this year you are also allowed to hunt cougar at the same time you can hunt deer. This is new as a pilot project ended with different hunting rules for cougars in previous years.
